I am! I was cited in the Chicago Sun-Times, which led DePauw to mention me on the university website. The question is, does this go under Service or Professional Development in my tenure file? By the way, those visiting from either of these sources can find the top 53 list here.
In other news, I've heard about a new blog by James Roe. We now have oboe blogging covered from coast to coast! It is a very nice looking blog, with great use of pictures, photos, and poetry to communicate Jim's experience as a musician in New York. He is also the AD of the Helicon Foundation, which puts on Historically Informed Performances of chamber music "in intimate spaces." I love that idea, the personal connections that such performances can make with the audience.

Scott ... I can never manage to email you easily, but someone else has "stolen" this blog entry, and it's now at a wordpress site. Included, though, is a link on one of the words (connections" that takes a reader to a porn site.
I initially left a comment with that site's URL, but then I realized that would give that site some hits they don't deserve. So I quickly deleted that entry.
My husband says that the site will probably quickly disappear, but I still thought you might want to know.

I've run across that with other posts, I'm not going to worry about it.
I just can't figure out why someone does this
But I guess an oboe player can't understand much, eh? ;-)
Thanks, Scott for linking to my new blog. Between you and Alex Ross, I've seen a real uplift in traffic, which is exciting.
I'm sorry Patty has ended up so far afield when attempting a visit. It's baffling, because none of my readers, nor my other "linkers," have mentioned any misdirected "connections." I've tried viewing my blog on all the browsers on my Mac (they come not single spies, but battalions) and linking to it through various other sites and by way of google searches. Everything seems in order. (I simply cannot get to a porn site from mine . . .)
But, what, indeed, would an oboe understand?
I hope there are no further crossed wired.
Jim
Jim, the problem isn't with your blog, but with a spam blog that lifted my post and added a link to a porn site. Trust me, nobody understands this behavior.
Scott: I guess it goes back to that song from "Avenue Q." Thanks for clearing that up.
Happy blogging,
Jim
